Smooth Transition Tape 3M is a quick and easy way to virtually eliminate the processing caused by hard paint lines. It is specially designed to create easy transitions to existing finishes: a high central ridge contains adhesive, while the feather paint naturally below the edges for virtually invisible paint lines.
You get a flawless look when you mask and paint parts, such as door openings, edge panels, and fill lines with Smooth Transition Tape 3M. It is easily applied and does not add any effort to the masking and preparation process. Simply apply over standard masking products that are applied to protect the surroundings of the repair area to create a smooth edge of paint. The Smooth Transition Tape 3M has a width of 1/4 inch (7 mm) and has a high ridge, which is the only part covered with adhesive to be applied to the surface. The high free rest of the tape allows the primer or paint to penetrate naturally when the area is sprayed. This creates a virtually invisible line of paint between the existing and new coating, without any additional effort by the painting technician. And it results in much less possible processing than traditional tape / paper systems or folded tape systems. The 3M Smooth Transition Tape Precision Tape is also great for chipping.
